At last we’re back!

We’ve had a dreadful time since our station got knocked sideways by a power outage in late September. The problem was fairly quickly isolated to the logger – the piece of equipment that records the readings, assembles them and sends them over the internet to our weather database – not talking to the Wifi Router and hence unable to connect to the internet. We’ve had new parts from the manufacturer, discussions with IT experts, and many frustrating attempts to resolve the problem.

Finally, the problem was located as a Wifi Router setting after all, despite this having been dismissed earlier in the diagnosis. And so we are back online.

We’ve been using data from the only other weather station in Epping (that we know of) but unfortunately that too was off air for a couple of weeks in October. Therefore our weather summary for October cannot be presented.

The Met Office report summarising the average weather for East Anglia in October showed a regional overall temperatures with a maximum of 17.6C, minimum of 9.2C and a mean of 13.4C. The rainfall total was shown as 61.9mm. If those figures are compared to our data record, then it would appear that October has been pretty close to the long term averages.

Over the next few days the data from the other Epping weather station (courtesy of Jeremy Trading) will be loaded onto the website for the display of trends for November, and hopefully we should be able to present a near normal November summary at the end of the month.
